Or rather, what if it is nothing as fantastic or cataclysmic as we are imagining.
What if the future, 20 years from now is just like live journal, AIM, and Google.
candy-colored immersive web-services.
if you asked me 10 years ago, in 1994, what the future would be like today
I would've speculated along the axis of astonishment
"in the future, we will genetically engineer our children, we will clone blah blah, etc.."
I had no idea that the future, instead, would be about distributed Word Documents via Ethernet, and shared journals, and digital newspapers.
so far, if we are to extrapolate from the way things have come along in the past ten years, the future will just be ultra cute.
ultra gun.
fun
well, at least for those of us who are on the cutting edge
like imagine those ppl the RIAA got to, man, I feel bad for them.
they just wanted to capriciously join the file-sharing party and bam, they got screwed.
thing is, they also probably didn't know the proper ways to cover their tracks on the computer. i.e. don't share files etc..
also, other ppl too can't seem to figure out how to get out of spyware and viruses.
my computer is spotless, but only cuz I'm a computer nerd
tradgedy of the commons, it is a shame.
