IF PERSONAL CHANGE IS A PROBLEM maybe here's an idea. If there is something that you want to do but can never seem to do, maybe it's because of a disunity of will. For example, you can assert "yes I want to lose weight" and everybody can see that your hungry for change. However, when it comes to actually doing working out and modifying your diet, you become lazy. Usually that laziness emerges as a "reason" in your head. This is when a reason becomes an "excuse."

Sartre would say that, "well, if you don't do it, then it's because you ultimately didn't really want it."

Puh-leez Sartre.

Your desires don't necessarily correlate to action. Not all desires are the same. And only a subgroup of your desires correlate to your active "wants."

As a result, you have to pinpoint your will and then rally all your other desires around it. You take that will and self-motivate. Convince yourself from so many different angles that something or another should get done. And if you are not convinced, try to get creative. Taking that iniative and putting enough time will eventually chip away at your contradictory desires until the party is ready to roll.

When a small desire doesn't get the job done, amplify that desire into becoming a motivational force to be recokned with.

That's the theory at least.
