There are three blogs accessible via the menu. There are a couple of ways at understanding the difference between them.
The first and central blog is a movabletype one that runs on my machine. This one is accessible through http://www.philosophistry.com/ Movable Type is such that saving takes a while and you have to open up your browser and such. Plus, I have features that require attention at each post (blogfabric) and so my posts on there are more deliberate. Consider them like articles.
The second link goes to my mindsay blog. I am drawn to MindSay because of it's AIM updating feature. This allows you to instant message a buddy bot, and anything you say to it gets put right here. I am currently writing this from a chat window. Besides that feature, mindsay is limited: no permalinks, no good archives, no flexibility with templates, and possibly no way to backup. Therefore everything in here is ephemeral. the AIM bot features makes it much more "off-the-seat" of my pants.
The third blog that's highlighted is my stumbleupon link blog. StumbleUpon is a toolbar for your browser that uses a nifty personalization mechanism to find you novel links to your liking. I actively stumble at least one or two sites a day, and this is the fastest way to update a link blog.
the fourth link is not to a blog but rather a link back to my philosophistry.com site. back there is a page that collects all the recent comments on any of the posts on my "articles." So this is sort of like a forum.
The three main blogs (movable type, mindsay, and stumbleupon) are all variations on the blogging theme. Each one is unique and has publishing interfaces that make their content come out differently--The Medium is the Message.
I've used mindsay for a personal blog since the summer of 2003 and my original philosophistry was very chat-like, so I've decided to return back.
